Dear Coyote Fans and Friends,
Thank you for your interest in Coyote Athletics and the Howling Pack. Whether you're renewing your membership or making a gift for the first time, I want to emphasize the importance of joining the Howling Pack. Annual contributions make a significant difference to the athletics department. Your support helps us provide the resources for our 350 student-athletes to compete at the Division I level, in and out of the classroom.
In April 2009, we were accepted into the Summit League to begin full competition in the fall of 2011 for all sports except football. This incredibly important step in our Division I transition is a true testament to the quality of education at USD, and the academic and athletic successes of our teams. For the fall 2009 semester, the overall student-athlete GPA was 3.16 and twenty student-athletes were named to the Great West Fall 2009 Academic All-Conference team. We have teams and individuals who have already won conference titles and have more than proven they belong in Division I.
This year we have added more benefits for our Howling Pack members in anticipation of renewing rivalries and beginning Summit League action. We have added the Coyote Priority Point System, to reward donors who've consistently supported Coyote Athletics. We are calling on all alumni and fans of USD to join the Howling Pack and for you to challenge your friends and classmates to do the same. Please take a few minutes to consider how you can support the academic and athletic dreams of being a student-athlete at The University of South Dakota.
